                        What makes Richard Oden different from competitors?

 

Over the past two decades Mr. Oden has earned the reputation and respect as a leader in governance and business by accomplishing what he say, he will do. Herein are a few of Richard’s real-world government, corporate and civic successes.

Richard Oden was elected in 2009 as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rockdale County
Government and served until 2016. He led the county daily operation as CEO with an annual budget of $139 million, where the county achieved many first time awards, recognitions and honors with distinction in fiscal management, for performance, innovation, effectiveness, efficiency, transparency and accountable.

In 2016 he led Rockdale County department heads and staff in becoming an Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) certified bronze green community while providing quality constituent service.

He served as an active member in the Association of County Commissioners Georgia (ACCG) where he led the Economic Development and Transportation Policy Platform (EDT) Committee as Chairman from 2010 to 2016. He served as Vice-Chair of ACCG GEB-Corp, Defined Contribution Committee for five years before becoming an ACCG State Board of Manager.

In 2016 he was awarded with the prestigious Emory Green Leadership Award – as Georgia’s Top Commissioner of the year. In 2015 ACCG presented Mr. Oden with the Excellent Service Award as EDT Chairman.

He was nominated and unanimously selected to serve as an ACCG Board of Manager and then he was chosen for a two year term as one of two members representing ACCG and 159 Georgia counties on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board as a National Board of Director.

In 2009 he began pro-actively serving on several Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) committees where he became Chairman of the Community Resource Community (CRC) from 2010 to 2016 and served on the Transportation and Air Quality (TAQC), the Budget Audit and Review (BARC) and the Executive Policy Committee and the Governance Committee respectively.

He led the ARC Comprehensive Economic Development Strategic Steering Team as a convener, resulting in the creation of the Unified Regional Economic Development Strategy for the Metro Atlanta Chamber and other Local Chambers of Commerce, Businesses, the Academic Communities and other key stakeholders.
